{"id":12843,"date":"2019-04-04T18:25:37","date_gmt":"2019-04-04T18:25:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.brickbuilt.org\/?p=12843"},"modified":"2019-04-04T18:25:37","modified_gmt":"2019-04-04T18:25:37","slug":"mitgardian-farmhouse-build-log","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.brickbuilt.org\/?p=12843","title":{"rendered":"Mitgardian Farmhouse: Build Log"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>This house was built for the AFOL Designer Program, though I then chose to add a landscape and enter it in the CCC. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The building style is very similar to my <a href=\"http:\/\/www.brickbuilt.org\/?p=6225\">Skyrim<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.brickbuilt.org\/?p=7003\">houses<\/a>, but at a smaller scale.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.brickbuilt.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/1-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"720\" height=\"480\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p> The small model size made it easy to experiment with different options, and I tried to keep the piece count fairly low without sacrificing detail.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.brickbuilt.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/2-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"720\" height=\"480\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Which meant using primarily large tiles for the thatch roof. Once again I went with a 45\u00b0 roof slope, though this time filling the peak gap with a SNOT 1&#215;1 tile.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.brickbuilt.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/3-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"720\" height=\"480\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The roof is easily removable to allow access into the interior. At this point the house exterior was nearly complete.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.brickbuilt.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/4-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"720\" height=\"480\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Though the interior hadn&#8217;t even been started.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.brickbuilt.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/5-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"720\" height=\"480\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>I finished the chimney next incorporating some SNOT plates, tiles, and cheese slopes to transition from four studs down to two.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.brickbuilt.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/6.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"720\" height=\"480\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>I included a small irregular base with chicken coop in my AFOL designer submission. The unprinted chickens were used as regular chickens weren&#8217;t available in the Bricklink Parts Palette.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.brickbuilt.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/7-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"720\" height=\"480\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>When I decided on building a full landscape for the house, I wanted it to fit on a 32&#215;32 baseplate. So I roughed out an irregular base making sure to stay in that size.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.brickbuilt.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/8-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"720\" height=\"480\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Including a section of stream was more difficult than I anticipated due to the limited space.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.brickbuilt.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/9-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"720\" height=\"480\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Next I could attach the house to the base &#8211; angling it for a more natural look.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.brickbuilt.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/10-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"720\" height=\"480\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Olive green fit well with the color scheme of the house, so I used that for the grass.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.brickbuilt.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/11-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"720\" height=\"480\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Adding some grass stalks, spiky plants, and RB friends flowers made the scene look much more complete.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.brickbuilt.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/12-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"720\" height=\"480\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>My last additions were the tree, a few mushrooms, and the farm animals<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.brickbuilt.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/13-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"720\" height=\"480\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>And here&#8217;s a shot of the finished base sitting over a 32&#215;32 baseplate &#8211; only overhang being a few leaves from the tree!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.brickbuilt.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/14-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"720\" height=\"480\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Thanks for reading and leave a comment if you have any questions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image is-resized\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.brickbuilt.org\/?p=11423\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.brickbuilt.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/overview-5.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"720\" height=\"481\"\/><\/a><\/figure>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This house was built for the AFOL Designer Program, though I then chose to add a landscape and enter it in the CCC.
