Here’s a short build log that covers another of my CCC entries from last year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There were several main aspects that needed to fit into the landscape: a small section of pond in the front corner, a cow pasture on the right side, and a winding path between the two. So I started by roughing out those elements. You’ll notice the front-left corner is at a lower level than the rest, as that needed to accommodate the pond.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I used white, blue, and black plates under the trans blue tiles to give the look of different water depths. And reddish brown plates right by the water edge to show wet dirt. The stone wall is the same technique I used for my Apple Picking <\/a>build, since both scenes take place on the same farm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Next I could add dark green plates and curved slopes to show some grass. In the cow pasture I used grass stalks as well to show some taller grass.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A tree in the back corner added some nice height to the build, and I liked how cattails looked around the pond corner. The only thing I was unhappy with was the medium dark flesh boards on the fence – the color looked out of place in this context.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So I switched to reddish brown boards, added a few more grass stalks here and there, then took photos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
