{"id":13528,"date":"2019-07-03T19:59:31","date_gmt":"2019-07-03T19:59:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.brickbuilt.org\/?p=13528"},"modified":"2019-07-03T20:02:22","modified_gmt":"2019-07-03T20:02:22","slug":"cider-cellar-build-log","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.brickbuilt.org\/?p=13528","title":{"rendered":"Cider Cellar: Build Log"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>See inside the build process for my second most popular CCC entry from last year!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Like all the previous builds in this series on Apple Cider, I used a black tile border.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.brickbuilt.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"720\" height=\"480\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Though I originally intended to have a series of vaults as the build&#8217;s primary feature.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.brickbuilt.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"720\" height=\"480\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Here was my attempt at using the large macaroni tiles as the arches of the vaults. But I didn&#8217;t find any good ways of fitting the rest of the vaults around them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.brickbuilt.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/3.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"720\" height=\"480\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>So went back to standard arches with convex slopes. This was just too bulky though, and would have made photography tricky.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.brickbuilt.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/4.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"720\" height=\"480\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>So I settled on a much simpler setup with arches and macaroni tiles over some round columns. Here it&#8217;s also easy to see how the floor pattern is made.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.brickbuilt.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/5.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"720\" height=\"480\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>I purposefully made the space underneath the arches quite deep to easily accommodate the barrels which were attached to the wall behind them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.brickbuilt.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/6.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"720\" height=\"480\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>After adding some bottle racks, two torches, and a few figs, the scene was complete. Surprisingly this was one of my more popular models in 2018, despite its small size.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image is-resized\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.brickbuilt.org\/?p=11643\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.brickbuilt.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/overview-3.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"720\" height=\"480\"\/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>And there&#8217;s your look behind the scenes at making this build!
