Hinge Brick Well Design

Having a variety of well designs is handy, especially after you get bored of using the same old designs repeatedly. Which was what led me to design this well for use in the InnovaLUG Story of Moses Collaborative.

It all ‘hinges’ on the use of this element:

Which allows you to easily create a SNOT circular wall for the well. But the hinges by themselves would give a pretty poor stone texture, so I combined them with 2×2 inverted brackets:

To make a full circuit, you will need 12 sets of these elements paired together.

Which can then all be connected to form a neat circle with exposed studs on the outside.

This gives a perfect surface to attach various small tiles to and create a neat stone wall texture.

The new 1×1 half round tile gives a nice variation from all square tiles. And there is the finished stone well!
You may be wondering how to connect this well to landscape. With my model I ended up tiling the surface underneath the well, and placing plates carefully around the edges so that the studs of the plates were tight against the outer edges of the wall. Done correctly, this will not only keep the well where you want it, but can apply enough friction to hold it in place even when the model is turned upside down!

And there is one more well design to add to your model library.
