Octagonal 4×4 Column Tutorial

This is a handy technique for small towers or columns.

1×1 round plates and travis bricks make up the core.

This assembly will be repeated and stacked atop each other until you reach the desired height.

Each layer is rotated 45° from the layer below.

The example is 10 studs tall. Four of the eight sides use 1×10 plates with 1×2 tiles centered on each stud.

While the other four sides have tiled 1×10 plates.

One side attached.

Alternate which style side you use as you place them in position.

The finished shape doesn’t match perfectly with a 4×4 round plate, but is quite close.

I used this technique for the front columns in my recent King or Puppet? build.

And that’s it! A pretty simple design, but one that could be useful in a variety of settings. As always, feel free to let us know if you have any questions!
