Years went by, and though a bit wary at first, the monks soon recognized Lyra’s passion for learning and welcomed her as one of them. Lyra studied arduously and started using portals more frequently. Visiting new places, and experiencing what she had only imagined before. Which didn’t reduce the value of stories but rather heightened it.
As time passed, she realized her ability offered a unique opportunity to search out and discover libraries and collections of books thought to be lost forever. She gave herself to studying maps, learning legends, and exploring. Old ruins frequently housed priceless volumes, and those that were salvageable she would bring back to the monastery where her quarters were quickly becoming stuffed.
